Let's Be Real - Mama Journeys -Episode 83 W/Diane Smith
from Let's Be Real: Mama Journeys · host Nikki Brooker
As a lifelong educator, she has dedicated her life to the education of children. She started her mama journey just before turning 30. With grown kids, she remembers having very little support throughout having little ones. She moved to Colorado with no family there and struggled with the lack of help. Even though she was in education and taught while having kids, she didn't ever teach her own children. Her neighbors were her biggest supporters and they created her own village. As she grew as a mom, and now a grandmother, she did some remembering back to the days of reading stories and singing songs to put them to bed. When your kids become parents and acknowledge how hard it is to be a mom, that's a good feeling. She wishes she would have let her kids struggle more. The need to rescue him was so powerful that she always jumped in to help, creating a less persistent adult. She wants you to think about letting them struggle more. When you are in the thick of it and you feel like it's never going to end, cherish what you can because it goes by sooooo fast!
