A second large influx occurred in 2011, when some 130,000 refugees arrived, fleeing drought and famine in southern Somalia. There are now three refugee camps and the Ifo 2 integrated settlement. Somali refugees represent more than 96% of the population. As of April 30, 2024, there were 382,639 registered refugees and asylum seekers living across Dadaab's three camps (Dagahaley, Hagadera and Ifo).
