Given the number of dependents involved, 13 siblings, the degree of abuse and the protracted nature occurring over decades, the story garnered significant national and international interest in the press. Experts in family abuse considered the case to be "extraordinary" for a number of reasons. If this book is too heavy, let me know! I'm always open to suggestions as to what to read and when to read it. I only picked the book because I had it on hand, and it was the most accessible. If this is a case you're interested in doing a MEGA-DEEP dive on, then we can continue until we finish the whole damn thing! That's the beauty of this podcast world - it's up to us!
