I almost didn’t want to record today as I was feeling tired, a bit low, periody and like I wasn’t sure what I could even offer from that place. But then I thought, there is no better moment to talk about self-worth when I myself am feeling down and having a conversation with my self-worth. When we’re feeling down, many of us feel (or have felt in the past) alone with our experience. Because our society isn’t one to say: yes, welcome, we can include that. It has us wait for when we’re fine, happy, positive, successful. And yet the irony is, that society simultaneously will tell us that we’re not good enough as we are. Let’s talk about self-worth and how it doesn’t come through just when we’re happy and positive and on a high, it’s actually most needed when we’re feeling down and on a low. It comes in with love and says: it’s okay, I’m here for you, I love you no matter what. Even if you’re huddled up on the couch feeling all shitty, I’m here for you. I’m not going anywhere. I’m here. But self-worth also let’s us know we don’t need to play out that story or go down that hole because why do we need to hurt ourselves like that? Why do we need to suffer unnecessarily? The discomfort is enough as it is. Just stay with that. In this episode I talk about self-worth, how the healing process ebbs and flows and how all we’re asked to do, is to just stay with ourselves with loving presence, to hold our own hand, as we walk through this crazy ride we call life.
