Yeah, we've been reviewing some really shit movies But we've we're gonna start we started last week with Napoleon Dynamite where we're gonna start recording ourselves Reenacting our favorite scenes and stupid moments from the movies, right? So if you're gonna like something extra if you're gonna reenact say your favorite moment or saying from since it what would you do? That's a really difficult one because there's like so many cool moments like people jumping off rooftops and things like that and I am stupid enough to do some things like that But I really shouldn't I was thinking more like with the yellow bass of getting back to punch her in the balls and rip you dig off I mean I was thinking about reenacting that scene and just like having a banana like down there Banana skin pulled away or something like that, but Green as that might get removed from any YouTube or Instagram short, so I decided not to bother So Sammy do you want to get a disclaimer after we just fucked up?

Yes. Hell of a way to end a partnership Oh god, Lee, you should really do this one. Oh me always one of my favorites in this Eagle taglines tag rights this I think I will talk about earlier when we're in the pictures This is probably the most comic accurate movie that has been ever made I would go on record saying it if you look at the the Frankless since it he boogues or comics It is literally seen from same from the pages of this book and how they shot and I think that is the only way They could have made this movie as well by doing it that way because if they try to do any You know core here a story up probably screw it on a TV sure But what we got and we're not gonna talk about the sequel because the sequel isn't isn't bad It's just not to the level like this came out. It was a surprise And we hadn't like well we hadn't seen anything like this before It came out and all we are quite big on like practical effects in like when we talk about like episodes or like movies and stuff The practical effects in this movie is Some of the best and again, it's probably how it's a shot I know there's a lot of grain screen and stuff but the actual like makeup on like the Marv Marvel is just like a Dragon Ball but I love anything to do with film noir Like I love the version of Blade Runner with the voice over which not really people don't like because it gives that kind of film noir kind of vibe But this just hit every note perfectly like the characters like the cast just a rate for the cast like Jessica Although Billy Seodel or Brittany Murphy Clive on Mitty Rook Bruce Willis Elijah Wood Roseanna Dawson Michael Clark Duncan and Ruta Hager Michael Madsen next door like there's so many names and it's just crazy how they got them all in this in this movie and we did it as well Even the way it's shot's not like a one-minute story It's like all contained in the same kind of world in the same type of city type thing But everything kind of flows differently or different timescales But it's just done so amazing and I remember seeing this like the big screen the pictures and being completely blown away What about you guys? What can you remember when it first came out? I was obsessed like Ridiculously obsessed.
This is something I'd never seen before. I didn't know who Frank Miller was I'm not anywhere near the comic book, you know, knowledge that I have now And I didn't care it was Roger and you guys name attached That's all I was looking at even though I know a lot different now I was obsessed completely not the obsessed like I've got all the graphic novels Marv Was ever at a time when merch for us was very hard to get I was so happy with the Marv and I still have him. I know he's here somewhere I just don't know where um bobblehead statue bobblehead of Marv He's probably the only one him in the crow who survived our house move because he's in still in perfect condition And he's of decent size as well, but yeah, I was totally obsessed with this and then it just It away and I watched it for the first time yesterday and years and it's still like there was a bit of a bar But it also kind of took us back and I was like oh, I remember why I was so obsessed with this And I really did want to play um Oh, it's a cold I've had a stuck on my head all day then noir Elinowar All right, the game Yeah, I really want to play Elinowar Right, the same type of vibe, yeah Well, you're late, you're yellow bastard Well, firstly, I'm gonna have to apologize to you both because I'm gonna make you feel bad But I couldn't go and see this in the cinema That wasn't old enough Oh, you're weird, you're late But this came out on DVD and I got it as soon as it came out on DVD I probably got some strange blog involved with to pay for it for us Because I couldn't get it myself. I was only 16 Um But normally I don't like full of noir things And I think it's like the old fashioned ones Um, yeah, like the same type thing It's the voice that I don't like Once a fire and girl like oh, don't it like this I can see And it's something that just grinds on us But this um, it's like a modern neo noir thing neo noir is it called?
Yeah, yeah This kind of started, didn't it? Um, I don't know what this just blew my mind when it first came out Just all of the styles and everything I didn't even know it was a comic until a few years ago Right Um, and I didn't read the comic until about three days ago So exactly the movie itself Both in pictures And the movie isn't even like a live adaptation of this It's more like they've just made a move in picture version of the comic of each of each That blows my mind even more than just when I first saw it It's such a rare film that there's actually in overall there's three directors in this film Um, quite like quite unique Tarantino is a get a special guest, director And this is on the back of Rodriguez' direction in Kill Bill They do the dog because what they do is they'll say, well you direct something for me and I'll pick your dollar and that was there exchange and this is the exchange from Kill Bill to for Tarantino to come in. But also it's also a dual partnership direction. It's Frank Miller and Rodriguez who are both working simultaneously on this film, they work as a partnership.
Did I get this? I might have got this wrong. Because originally Frank Miller didn't come on as a director, he come on as a consultant and the more and when they brought him in he had such a like he got so involved in something that Rodriguez made him a director I was it? Yeah, it didn't start.
It didn't plan out that way but he did eventually because of the work he was putting in Rodriguez and felt he deserved to be there with him. The directors Guild of America didn't see it that way and didn't like the idea there because he was going to have two names directed by Frank Miller and Frank Miller was going to be the first name Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez they didn't like that one because it's kind of not allowed and two he's not an established director. Right okay. So to get around it Rodriguez resigned from the directors Guild of America and went fuck you.
Which is very rugged style because it's so brave so brave and a movie that could have potentially needed them like you don't know how this is going to go down and yeah no he was it's such a brave move for him and to do that for Frank like he didn't have to do it because Frank was within himself Frank's got like he's not not got a bad Korean comic show he said. Well he was actually going to give full credit to his friend Miller and Miller was like absolutely not no you can't do that the amount of work that you've put into this and Rodriguez went all right then I'll just resign. His name was going on there hella high water. Yeah I don't think they needed to worry about getting help getting this out there like with the amount of absolutely amazing actors not you Clive Owen.
Oh my god oh my god what a man just stuck the energy out of a room. Oh I like his version of Dwight. I was Dwight wasn't it he was in this one yeah. Was Dwight it's just not not who there's 101 actors who could have done that and been better.
I think it's just him I just don't like him. I hate Clive Owen he's such a boring man but some of the best scenes have him in like when he's when he jumps off the rooftop and it's in slow the rain over the top that's not a cool shot. It is but then you remember Clive Owen's face at the top of his like it's good when you pan in from your shoes upwards and then you're like the obvious. In the scene where they're in the car the one that they're Tarantino directed with Del Toro with these like head going back and forth and that's what was speech where he's going.
Oh that's not a good. The makeup job on Del Toro is the fact that I get the fact that Rock was Rob was a big one because we all know the story of how Mickey Rock was this like absolute dish of a man to then having so much surgery that he kind of was very unrecognizable and she kind of used that. Yeah it wasn't just a plastic surgery or anything else because he became a try to become a professional boxer as well so his jaw and his nose got splattered around so. He kind of used it to use the trees advantage to completely change his face once again and this was very much a comeback for Rock as well but to do Del Toro's face we all know what an detailed Del Toro looks like and it just is so unrecognizable.
It's like accentuating certain characteristics and making things look bigger and everything like about the book because with syncy as well I love that because more people think it's three stories but it's four stories in this. It's the customers always write the yellow bastard the hard goodbye and the big fat kill because the customers always write doesn't really play out as a story. It's more like a book end for the shot. And that was again this was a kind of like a big starting again for Josh Hartnett because Josh Hartnett has fallen off.
We haven't been in anything for long years I think the last one was a number slappin' in the same act. Oh was that that one that you had to be celibate for 40 days before? That's the one that killed his career. That's the one that kind of destroyed his gladi looks like somebody let somebody else cut his hair towards him.
And also does he have a unibrow? Like I never noticed Josh Hartnett had a unibrow. I was like eh what? They did manage to change someone else's face on this and you might not even recognize you might not even notice um is Elijah what?
All right it is like Frodo. He's not the chain to completely differentiate his chin to make him look as because Elijah's got quite a sweet face and he can't pull off medicine and they completely changed his chin like they've rounded it off in order to give him that like deadpan stare. I think so with this as well with um as you said having that kind of angelic face that me and his character is so much more scary. Yeah he's fucking terrifying.
Like there's no you can't shift around it. That character in itself regardless of the fact that I'm going funny feeling about like what he does but yeah he's he's terrifying. It's weird that we're talking about cannibals. Yeah your favourite subject.
What is that tell you though I'm trying to get over it? Maybe this is the therapy I need like just to talk about you know just to recognise it. It's not trying to pretend it's not. One of the things I wanted to quickly mention as well before we start talking about like the intricacies and like the different stories as well is the use like I know or film the ones very like very like get a lot of depth from it as well but the use of colour in this and all the use and the comics as well but they use it in the film like very minimal but the ones that they kind of highlighted or brought out had such more of an impact as well.
Like the reds were just absolutely beautiful. The yellow in the yellow basset is so shrugging and it makes your feel like. Exactly and like the blues in one of the one of the work girls eyes is just mesmerising as well. Oh the Lexus video has like the most bluest of blue.
I just kept going Rory what are they doing to you? You got a big girl more girlfriend to get that. Yeah and the green in um gosh I always forget this actress is Nehem but she's in planet terror she's in screen for oh my gosh I can't think of Nehem. She's at the beginning with um Josh Hartnett.
All right. Mary Shelley, Molly Shelton sorry. Molly Shelton at the beginning with the green eyes. It was absolutely striking.
And one thing I did notice that I've noticed before. Neho has a very light blue hint to outfit and there's like a slight tint. I was like all right that's like quite nicely done. Like so you kind of you don't actually notice it but um like again using choices that have some blood, striking red and then like the probably the belt or one through senses is to have that as white as possible because that would have been a lot of blood to go through.
Yeah and I love the fact that they use the yellow splatter when needed but the actual blood when needed. There was like a a fine line sorry I just had a mind blown moment here. So can you oh my god can you remember when we did fanboys for the 12 hour charity stream? Barely yes.
And I mentioned Jamie King's in this and I was like well I thought Jamie King I know what that is. I completely got the actress mixed up. I'm thinking of the one from my name is Earl. Yeah it's not.
Jamie King is in this village. She plays Goldie and Wendy and I'm like ah that's who Jamie King is. That was my little light bulb moment right there. No that's fine.
But there's a lot of characters that you don't see or as we learn to do because Sammy and Lee before we go out if Sarah's watching Sarah Page she'll chop them down. Nick Offman is in this movie. Yeah yeah very very unrecognizable. Like to the point of you couldn't pick him out of the film at all unless you're directly staring at the picture of him.
It's crazy. It just looks like Ricky. He does it's not it's not you know runs once and by any definitely not but that is definitely Nick Offman. So my question to you is now because we're always able to talk about like a few different things.
I'm going to take away the customers always right because I don't think that's a big thing. I go to this. Out of the three main stories the yellow bastard the hardcore by and the big fuck hill. Which story do you like not say any favourites because again that's an easy one to answer.
Which one do you think is the most powerful? Um that's a lot more interesting shall we say. That's so hard because they all have their own oh gosh um oh gosh that's such a hard one. That's what she said.
The hard goodbye is always my favourite. Right. Because of Marv. I love Marv as a character.

Never hit it. I just I love love him so much but and I here to admit it but Clive Owens was probably the one that I was like on the edge of his seat with because it's also in it is the more interesting one. There's gang warfare there. There's law there.
There's like that you know that truth between the old town and the police that's kind of like going to come to an end and things are going to go back to the way they were. There's so much they packed into that. And so that is probably the more interesting one but the one I'll always love will be anything to do with Marv. What about your name?
Yeah I love Marv the most. His was the most exciting. But the most powerful one is all of the hard again like Bruce Willis. It is so powerful like an old man dies.
A little girl survives. And just and the twist as well of like the yellow bastard where it's you find out and it's like oh my god it's Rock Jr. It's been him all along. He's had his dick run back and he's extended back.
He just made me feel like he was like oh no. That one I agree with that one. It's just because of the tones and kind of like with it being a two-parter as well because you don't really expect it. And the weird kind of flaws.
I love the first part. How busy you're Rock's character. You're like you're like Megan Madison's character is trying to keep winning. Like he could be considered for an NSP farm.
It's like hard again stay away from here. Just don't go in there. He's playing the part of the town. He was hard again.
But leave that alone. Yeah. Four days away from retirement. Yeah.
60. You're pushing 60 and you got a bum ticker. But I love the favorite line of Madison. But then it goes from there to the hall to one.
It's like how can like well corruption is rife and stuff. How can people be that corrupt where they're left? The sick or junior do what he does to young girls. And it's just brutal and horrible and leaves you like kind of on that a hanging point when Bruce Willis is shot and he stares around long enough to kind of make sure that Nancy's okay.
Because he didn't he was worried that to stop Nancy from talking. They were going to probably kill her because they didn't give a fuck about human life in this apparently. But then the second part rams it up. We'll get the uncomfortable conversation out the way straight away.
Yeah they just do that. Just to make sure that people are aware we know. Look at that. Like as Lee said, it's hard again in the future.
It's like eight years time. So he's pushing 70. 70. Yeah.
He's way 60 years. Yeah. And then Nancy is 19. And she's kind of like, oh, I love you.
I was always been you 19. I forgot. Yeah. Kind of thing.
It is. It's very much. I know when Stockholm syndrome was proven to be absolutely bullshit, but I'm sure what there's something to do with like survivor. I don't know what the word is.
Attachment type. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
It did something similar with the Starling TV show that I think got cancelled where they were doing after the effects of Sansa Lambs. Like, Chloe Starling, but the last that was down the well. She was keeping on from her ass now because with Starling saving us, she felt like she had some kind of bond with her. So I kind of did that in the short.
It was an interesting concept. It was just a show. It wasn't very good. Unfortunately.
What I found interesting as well is something I probably, I don't think I was clever enough to pick up back in the day. But what was this time? Was the timeline? Right.
So I don't know where the beginning. I don't know where the beginning of Josh Hartnitz falls in it. But then you've got a Hardgen's story. And then you've got Marv.
Yeah. And then you go back to Hardgen. I don't know where Marv fits in because Marv is alive in Hardgen returning. And when Marv leaves Sin City, or Bayeson City, the BE is scratched out.
When Hardgen leaves, it's still Bayeson City. And I was like, Oh my God, are you trying to confuse me, Ratarigos? I thought I had this one figured out. But yeah, it goes backwards and forwards.
Yeah. I think continue with continuation. Continuity. That's the word.
Continuity. I think continuity in this one wasn't a strong point or something that would have worried about at times. No, what I was thinking of is it was a purposeful. Was it a remaining for it?
Because I couldn't believe that I part together. Well, they do cross over a little bit, obviously, like with Mav Sin and the bar when Bruce Willis shows up in Nancy's, Nancy up on there. But I don't know if they were actually meant to because nobody really filmed any of this together. Like Marv and Nancy went, they didn't meet like in real life.
Neither did Lyslewood and Mav. And they had a fight together. Do I have to go fight? Yeah.
I'm fighting and they never met each other. I sort of mentioned that fight scene as well. How amazing was that fight scene? Like, it's when you jump around now, you little bastard.
I would love to think that Lyslewood was like darlin around like that, but I just know fine, well, he's not. But he looked for not whoever that was made Lyslewood look phenomenal. Because that fight scene is brilliant. Like he's not only menacingly terrifying and he backs it up with his actions and moves.
It's like Marv is like snuck out of me. Nobody can sneak over me. It's so quick. No, it's quicker to me.
It's just, oh, everything this plays out and he is only well in this movie as well. Like that's like Frodo if he actually turned into gone eventually. Yes, this is it. This is what work.
Yeah, I like that analogy. I do love Marv. Like any fight scene with Marv because he always, he doesn't care. He doesn't care if he gets knocked on his arse.
He doesn't care if he's winning. It's just, and he doesn't care if he does. He just doesn't care. Yeah, it's interesting when he's like at the end after he's been flown away by everyone.
Like I would love to know the count of how he takes in this movie as well. And he's in the hospital, then he's like, oh, he actually says the worst in the time. Because I know they've got to kill me anyway. So, yeah.
So what's the point? We're just going through the motions. And I love the fact that they keep trying to get to confess. And even though the only way he confesses is because of threatened to kill his mum, that's how sweet he is.
Yeah, he loves women. I know he has a moment where he just, I think he slaps Wendy, but it is literally two. Say what she's going to be up to. Yeah.
Yeah, exactly. You don't need to witness this. Like he's literally doing her a favour. He knows what's behind them in that farm.
She don't need to see it. And also, Carleger, I have to say her name in order to see it. Because I just want to keep calling Agilien. And it's not.
Carleger, going to go in here. No, Carla, Gala, Gugino. Gugino. Oh my God, that woman.
She is. I fell in love with her within Sin City. That was like not Sin City, Sin City. Sorry, Michael Jeff-Ops.
Oh my God, I keep forgetting she was in that. And now she's obviously gone on to have a huge career with my clan again. And good. Because she absolutely deserves it.
But that whole scene in the in the in the cell and all the heads on the, which I know it's slightly a bit sick, but also slightly beautiful at the same time. They were very they were paused in such a beautiful way. I was like, I can't quite take my eyes off it. And I know I should.
That should be that should be all kinds of wrong to me. Then you get to reveal with that as well. How she talks about the dog feeding the scraps of meat from a hand and it just so is the stump that's been badly sitched together. They make me watch.
And yeah, but the genius part of that is she actually has both of her hands there. You can kind of see them. So the reveal is so freaking terrifying because you like shit. Was I really paying that close attention?
And oh my God, that woman's body is just perfection. Yeah. Oh, there's one who I really want to love, but I don't like the look of and I love them. I love her so much.
It's Rosario Dawson. She does not suit bondage and tie up and in the Mohawk. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, it's a one one look.
I can't get behind because I know the courage and so much more around Rosario Dawson. I thought she looked at me as an and as she said, especially as not. So that's it. Don't ever knock over the knots.
And my mom did. Back to like the Marvin like confessing with these man bit. They didn't put in a scene from the comic, which after he escapes from the police, he goes back to his mom's house and have like a nice moment. And I think that would have been really good just for the end bit where he confesses to see these men.
I think it's a shame they left that out. It's just been nice to have more rock on the screen, to be honest. I could have watched the whole film with just the adventures of, yeah, absolutely. And I love when he's patched himself up how comic book it looks like even the patches on him looks so comic booky.
I want over his eyes class as well. The behind the scenes, it's all orange bits that that are on him because the white people stand out. Contrast the colour. Yeah.
Oh my god. This is a lot that I really wish I looked into more. And it wasn't until last night when I was watching it. Like I forgot these little bits.
Like how great marvellous, how unrecognizable those were always. And I wish I looked a little bit more into, you know, the making of and the makeup of it. It's a shame. I don't know if there's a where there's as well.
There is an extended version of this film out. Oh really? No, I didn't know that. Yeah, there's an extended version.
I think it came out a few years ago. I don't know what it's more just like fight scenes or extended like brooding type thing. But I remember what Lee said about the comic as well. Like there is a few bits in the comic.
I was like, ah, that would have been a nice touch. Oh, that would have been quite sweet if we're out of it. There's a lot of mistletoe. Like the yellow bastards dick.
Yeah, we saw enough of that. Like there was no we didn't see anymore. We're missing makes it make him watch from the big blue big swing dick. You wanted a little swing and pain.

So far. And Benicio del Toro was not meant to be in this film. It was penned and coined and scripted to Johnny Depp. Right.
Interesting. But he couldn't do it. I remember why he couldn't do it. And that's when he's in the horror.
I think might have had the name pass from Johnny Depp to Rodriguez's. I don't think Johnny Depp would have worked as well. Because I think I think of Depp then though. No, no, I think it's like full on character driven.
Yeah, but I love like del Toro's character. Like almost grimey. I know Depp and Depp and Depp and Depp and Depp and Depp and don't have the voice friendly face. No, I think it's del Toro's got like a quite different I think he does anyway, but no one can fall off medicine even with just these normal fears.
He doesn't need to have reconstruction on it in order to make a medicine. So you probably right that whole scene with the door. He would never have been able to pull that off. Like how calmly was but how sinister he was at the same time.
Yeah, they put it just being like, Oh, Captain Jack's trying to be mean. Yeah, yeah, you're right. Also, my gosh, the late great Brittany Murphy and this as well. She is beautiful in this as well.
Like absolutely stunning. I said to these before we came on if I could talk like her and this film, I'd do it for the rest of me life. He was absolutely sick of his voice and me as an outsider. This and clueless.
I was remembering my family from like, I was like, girl interrupted. Oh, she's absolutely phenomenal and girl phenomenal interrupted. So such a good actress and totally gone way before our time. Well, again, Michael Madsen wasn't originally cast for this either.
I think he just met, um, Drieger's at a, like, it's something that was just like, I was a kill bill. It was a kill bill. He begged him. Like, why am I not in this film?
He was like, we still have one person that we happened to cast the editor. I'll take it. Yeah, it was kill bill. Um, uh, the after party.
Right. And he went over any bank. He literally got on his knees and begged him. He was like, I need to begin this film.
Yeah, you begged him for it. Yeah. I was reading about it last night because I was like, Oh bless you. But he is so good.
He does suit the part. And if you know what he's, if you know the kind of copies trying to play it, you get it. But if you don't want, you kind of like, did you forget how to act? But I think what really helped me was the fact that I watched the multisportiveness here.
Right. Because it's very similar. That's a thing. This movie is set out and like, even like the characters in it are very much like of that time, of that space.
Every almond, like everything is jacked up or said in a certain way. If people are trying to play it down, it's because the that's what that character is meant to be. It's not meant to be or you shouldn't have been in the bed. It's a part of the way it starts off when you say Bruce was just hard again driving the car.
Like everyone, the way the car is in this movie is actually hilarious. It's it's clearly changing. It's just like moving the hands or like this. It's like, but again, it's the way that had to do for the time.
I've tried to drive the car like that before. Do not try it at all. Please do not try it at all. Yeah.
I try to do it where you just you wheels go crazy. One thing that does stand out with this movie, and it's not just the cast. It's like not just the luck is the violence. Like how violent and how brutal this is at times.
Like I know Marvel is always the biggest example when he goes through to try and find out like what's happened to Baldi. Like the tortures it seems with people like the one when he's driving the car, like and he's got someone hanging out the car and they've got his face on the road and you just seeing bits of the person kind of going off. It's just unbelievable. And again, like going back to like Del Toro's character when he's pulls a gun against in all town and the young prostitute is looking at all boy, you just made the biggest mistake and me who would have started slicing and dicing.
Now, we could run that a lot with not shorten yourself, but with this and like the torn and thing, it works so well. So you see his hand get going off and bouncing around. Then you see all the people in the car freaking out and he's stabbing them for the roof and it's going through the ice. Yes.
And then the guy who tried to escape and just locked his head off and it's like rolling about everything about that is just absolutely hilarious. And then like Del Toro's character still being all insidious and putting guns up people and they've got them surrounded. The noise already dead. And he's just like thinking trying to think of the way over it.
And Miho basically puts like throws a little like blocker in his gun and Clive Owens characters actually tell them what to do and not what to do. He was so fucking peekheaded. He's still going with a's got an instinct. He's going to be okay in this situation, but he's clearly not.
She's got the cap. Do not press it. It will backfire. Yeah.
Just don't fire. She's blocked a gun. All right. Nice one.
Well, job well done. And the amount of decapitations in this movie as well, I would probably say this is one of the most decapitations I've seen in a movie. Yeah, there's a whole friggin room with decapitated heads on a bloody board. There's that what you don't see them happen, but you see like Del Toro get his head chopped off.
You see Elijah Woods Kevin get his head chopped off. It seems like still smiling. I still smiling as well. Oh, when that wolf starts eating as well and do the negative effects when you see him chewing on his leg.
Oh, yeah. Like when he had my first meet the wolf as well. Yeah. Yeah.
He just knocks it out and said that he's really strong. But then he strokes him too. I was good. I was good.
I was good. I was good. Oh, somebody like that. Somebody happy with that.
This is why I love him for it. I'm not joking. Mine. This is probably like something I proper hyper fixated on when this came out.
Like this was just it and everything. I didn't actually get the graphic comics because this came out in 2005 and I met Anthony in 2007. So I didn't get all them until later. And that's when I started to learn about Frank Miller and you know, I started reading like it wasn't fully blown comic book me now or what would be but it was like, I've read Batman and his, I cut him what his backside is.
Thank you. Thank you. And yeah, in some Daredevil as well. So I've been a fan of Frank Miller probably longer than I've been an actual Marvel fan.
And yeah, he's just, he's phenomenal. His work is just, it's just different. It was something, it was something sort of different. Do you know how, like if you're not a comic book reader and you've got that idea of what a comic book is, he's not that.
Interesting after this, because there was a few misceps when it comes to like what you try to do clearly thought, oh, this is, this is not easy, but you knew what to do to make films after you try was it the spirit with. This is so frank. Frank, I'm really trying to direct a similar movie. Was it the Spectre or something?
It had Samuel L Jackson in and it's absolutely atrocious. It's filmed pretty much the same way as Cincinnati, but it's not good. It's one of the words of words that I've seen, I'll be honest with you. Oh my goodness, I never knew, I never knew we did anything along those lines.
And hold on, keep talking with yourself. Keep talking. But yeah, but it's just like, as you said, I like it how it takes unashamedly shots at like establishment as well, like how corrupt this is. It's not just a place that's corrupt.
It's got the Mears corrupt because you've got like the Senate and the Senate of Rock and then you've got Cardinal Rock played by Goode and Howell and Howell deep, the corruption as well. As we found out, Samuel was like, goode, goode, goode, how is it in this film? Yes. Yeah, sorry.
Do you know what, you know, I love, you know, I love Alamo. You know, I do. You know, I've got a deep love for Alamo. I just need the munch shut up.
He described as well as work of Cincinnati onward as homophobic and misogynistic. Right. Prison Batman, Daredevil, but onwards, since he almost done like him. All right.
Good for you. Good for you, ma'am. And some parts of Cincinnati are a bit misogynistic. All of the women in the like, but you don't think it's balanced out with Mars?
Yeah, 100%. You've got a whole tribe of women who have completely managed to like band together and run their own underground city. You've got Marv who is just, you know, he's someone who is, he will not stand for a woman being hurt. Yeah.
He's very, I don't want, I don't know. No, it's, I've, I've had people have that same type of discussion or conversation with us before when I've talked about since it is good. Or do you not find it quite sexist or something on those lines? I'm going, my response to that is, okay, I can understand why you would come across or say these, these things.
But remember, this movie is based on a time that where things were said or language was used, people were threatened certain ways that if we made a movie without those aspects, are we doing a true representation to that time? Similar, it's a similar conversation. I think I had the same conversation with you system when we're talking about American cycle, because she, like, she had opinions on American cycle where it's like, Oh yeah, it was a, it was a favorite film until she, she really started to look into it and, in how she sees it now is completely different. Yeah, but when you look at it, the film's based in the Aries where men acted that way, men trekked women that way, where women, like in the Aries were seen as, I was like a trophy.
It's like, I've got the prettiest wife or the prettiest girlfriend, it's like, it's almost like, and that sounds really horrible saying this. It's almost like the way they do it in the film. It's like, oh, this is my business card, who has the greatest business card. That's how a girlfriend was met in the Aries by these people.
Not saying it was right, not saying that would be working now, but to not acknowledge those type of aspects or those type of themes, it's kind of like doing a disservice to the time as well. Yeah, I mean, I can only ever speak for me, me alone, and I don't get the sexist element in it at all. If anything, seeing them group of women is nothing but empowering. And knowing that someone like Marvel would have my back, is almost quite, I like the idea of having to think, I can stand on my own two feet, like to fight me on battles, but I do like the fact that having some protector, like who the fuck wouldn't.
So I can only speak for me, I can't speak for anyone else in how they feel about it. Yeah. But that goes for anything, doesn't it? Yeah, but then you're on the flip side, you're not going to dance, she's out of shit, you're bringing, she had this traumatic experience, she's going to law school, she was being there.
Yeah, and even in the worst situation, like, she goes does a sweet relationship with Hardigan. But when she's in, the shit gets real, she doesn't panic, she uses a smart, she outsmarts the yellow bastard. And not saying that Hardigan didn't do well, but she was partly responsibility for her own survival in that situation as well. So again, that could have been a complete damsel in distress moment or situation where it was overblown to the degree.
But I think, as I said, to label the whole movie as sexist or auditory women in a certain light, again, I think it's a slight disservice to it in a way. Yeah, I don't agree. And it's odd, not that I don't agree, I just, I don't see that and I'm not feeling that and I'm not getting that feeling from it. There's a lot of different films that you can watch and say, yes, I can see that's hugely problematic.
I think this, if you did it any way, I'll try to take that element out of it. It wouldn't work as well, because this is no while this is full fiction. This is, like, these used to be, like, say the little shorts that were in between films. It was like, everyone's sexy, everyone's sitting in certain categories.
That's how these stories work. If you try to make it all complicated, which I think they try to do in the other ones, especially in the second one, it doesn't work as well. It doesn't kind of hit. I think the simplicity in these movies as well is one of the things why it works so well and it's beautiful.
I don't think it's a sexist movie. I think it's just that there's like characters that are sexist, which is just a real thing. It's like having someone being racist in a movie. It's like, this isn't a racist movie.
That person is a racist. That is the character or this person is sexist. These things exist and it's just both political. These things don't exist in this world.
But they do. It's just stupid. Yeah, this is a world of corruption, of greed, of, you know, the worst of the world. The worst of the worst.
And you think that sexism and, like, all of them, and you know, that the worst, they don't exist here. Of course they would. This is worse than Gotham City, guys. This is 10 times worse than Gotham City.
And it's sort of, it's so real. Like, it's so, it's something that you don't really get to see a lot. You still feel like you know Bayes in City? At least I did anyway.
But that might just be because of how many times I used to watch this. There is one bit of this movie that I do hate and it takes us out the movie for a moment because I just think it's too stupid. It's not a movie. It's a maf scene.
I love all of the mafets apart from when he's getting hit with a car. When, what's called his sister called again? When did he just drive in the car and it's like a hundred miles an hour and it's he would be dead. He'd go on.
Yeah, but it also, it's maf. And that, you can't tell me that scene is not shot beautifully. Okay, well, you're saying, like, real life, he would have been dead straight away, but that then spins her looking at him. The fact that he keeps standing up to be hit, he was willing to be continuously hit again.
When he's in the room with the women and he's all tied up and he is allowing Wendy to kick the shit out of him and then just stands up with, he's like, are we done now? Are we finished here? Are we done? I actually, I think I love the scene.
I just love how it's shot. I think it's absolutely stunning work. And all of these lines as well, just like how smooth everything I'll be out in a minute. Is that the best you got?
One person who I haven't talked about, and that sounds really horrible because I forgot he was actually in this movie, so I watched it back with how, how it was in the years as Michael Clark. Just remember that he was in that? Yes, until, until his name came up, I was like, oh my God, yes, totally forgot that. Well, gosh, another actor so gone before his time so much more that we could have seen from him.
His first, his first, is it actually another time difference because he was in Daredevil as well, which is another something of Frank Miller's had his hand in. Oh, I don't know. I think I don't know if Daredevil was before or after this, but this was a great kingpin mind. I don't think many people agree with that, but I did love him as a kingpin.
I didn't mind it. I thought it was an impression. I've never seen it. I've probably watched it now because I've just got to watch to the older Fantastic Four ones, so I'll probably watch that now.
Might as well. I think the times for that one. I find out. Talk about yourselves.
Is that the line of the show now? Just talk about it. So that was 2003. So yeah, Daredevil was before this.
So it's second appearance. It's second appearance within Frank Miller's like creative world. I don't think they utilized him as much as the shut off in this movie. I mean, I can just like be based on the comics or the women he's seen with him in.
Today to work with book, what he is in and the eye, the fact that his eyes are on his own. It's so good. You know what, is it true? I don't know if this is something I've made up and exaggerated in my head, but he was found through Oprah.

You look like Kevin. It's like, Sam, he's got a killer, so fuck. That's a very weird moment in the movie as well. Like Elijah Wood, and he's like this really creepy, menacing character.
And then someone's like, Kevin, come here. Kevin, that's his name. Yeah. Also the runny does when he's what he's like skipping off.
It's almost like the the the nater run from when they tried to invade area 52. The neutral runner, whatever it's called. The root order. Again, that same storyline when Marv gets Cardinal Rock and is describing what they did and why they did it as well.
It's like, oh, Kevin told me he had the most beautiful voice. He only spoke to me. But when he told me he eats the flesh of the the horse, he sees the shine light and eats their soul at the same time. I was just like, oh, this is just fucking horrible.
Oh my. I am right. And I'm wrong in a way. Right.
Michael Clark and David Peer and Oprah is part of a dating segment in 1999. That was it. So he's pretty hard. Nothing to do with Oprah, but he was honest.

Again, I can say them in the TV show, but how this was shot and the people involved, it's one of those films now. I don't think it would work if they try to do anything differently with this movie. No, because this is a movie that you leave alone. Just leave it.
This is perfect. Because of how perfect they've translated it from the comics. They can't do it better than that. Yeah.
Don't do it. I think the only thing that the comics didn't translate over is how scary the characters look. If the maid like Marv's face and Hardigan's face exactly like the one that comics them all wrinkled and scarred and it would look more like a horror movie. Yeah.
There was so much horror element into this, like especially the kills and everything. And it was very much like a slasher movie. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. How could it use this? You could have tried to be clever. I went down here.
I go out. My slasher is since that he ex-mated to me now, but you chose club dread. Still stand by that. I'm glad to do it.
In a way. In a way. In a way. I can't have more to say this.
I think it's absolutely fantastic. I love it. I know Lee always holds back and has a few key things he wants to bring to the table. Yeah.

Again, it's not one of those where like you hear music. It's just like I just said, it's like the heartbeat and it kind of keeps everything going and everything moving as well. The opening is planeteira. But actually, it's not planeteira is the opening of since city.
Because obviously planeteira comes later, but you can actually hear it. The tune in the background of what Rose McGowan is dancing to is the beginning of planeteira is the music that's in the background of the opening of since city. Right. Interesting.
But it's Rodriguez. That's his music. That's him playing. That's his style.
Yeah. It was very, it was very him. Yeah. I do love how it comes full circle in the movie as well, where we start off with like the Josh Hartnett.
And then in the end, Alexis gets in the lift and Josh Hartnett's waiting then. Do you want to say go in and ends with that as well? I'll catch a check in the morning. That's it.
I couldn't have thought it was. Yes. But no, one of the timeless classics, I think it doesn't get as much credit or like love is probably like other comic book style or comic book movies. But I do think this stands with like more stuff out there.
