Let's Watch! The Phantom Empire (1988)

from Our Moms Think We're Funny · host Korova Entertainment

Acomi and Turk182 put on their cargo pants, director's jacket, and pack their primitive language translation book and explore the mountain caves that lead to The Phantom Empire (1988). Directed by B-movie champion Fred Olen Ray, and featuring Sybil Danning, Jeffrey Combs, and Robby the Robot the laughs in this campy sci-fi film don't come from the intentional jokes, but from the things that aren't meant to be funny.  After a cave dwelling creature wearing a necklace of uncut diamonds attacks a family at the park, a treasure hunter is hired to explore the mysterious caves and find the source of the diamonds. But, the amassed group is unprepared for a race of cave dwellers, scantily clothed primitive cave women, an evil, leather clad queen from outer space. Oh, and diamonds! The also find diamonds!  Ridiculous at every turn, and laden with jokes so old and stale, a funeral was held for the typewriter they were written on. Join Acomi and Turk as they watch with glee and ask questions the movie has no intent on answering. The Phantom Empire (1988) is everything you come to expect from the director of Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Alienator (Let's Watch! Season 3, episode 29), Bikini Frankenstein, and Wizards of the Demon Sword.  Prepare yourselves for the unknown horrors that lie within the caves, and Let's Watch! The Phantom Empire (1988). Acomi and Turk182, along the occasional special guest, provide running commentary of awfulsome movie and TV shows.  The hosts select movies that either one, or both, have never seen.  All jokes and comments are improvised.  NO PREPARED JOKES OR COMMENTS! During recording, the movies are watched at a low volume and with the subtitles on.  Viewers may want to turn subtitles on as well to enhance the viewing experience. So, cue up the audio, ready the movie, and hit play when we say so. Note: This video is the commentary recorded by Acomi and Turk182, and selected screenshots.  It is NOT a viewable copy of the film. The commentary can be enjoyed on its own, but if you want to experience the Let's Watch in all its glory, you'll need your own copy of the movie. Most of the movies viewed can be streamed online for free. #OMTWF #KorovaEntertainment #LetsWatch #LW #Acomi #Turk182 #awfulsome #SybilDanning #JeffreyCombs #FredOlenRay #Robbytherobot  Follow Acomi on Twitter at @AcomiDraws and on Instagram at AcomiDraws.
