Letters of Advent - Mark
from Parkway Teaching Podcast Hosted by Parkway Church Ottawa
We wait for Immanuel—the one who is God with us. We wait for the ruler to arise in Bethlehem who will shepherd God's people.Advent is about waiting—a practice most of us in our secular age struggle with…The demand of the "Christmas Season" is to be in a great hurry.Get the deals, get the gifts, get the food, be at the parties, take the photos, make the memories….. But the aim of Advent is to instil a quiet slowness into our soul, to wait for the arrival. I have an obsession with mail boxes…I love checking them, something about the mystery of what could be in there intrigues me. The anticipation, the mystery, the wonder, it all drives me with the motivating question… what if? This Advent, as we wait and anticipate the arrival of Immanuel, I want to explore the stories or letters written, telling us of who we can expect to come. Through Isaiah, Simeon, Elizabeth, and Mary we can begin to see that ... (We)are Christ’s letter… not written with ink but with the Spirit of the living God—not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 2 Corinthians 3:3 web | www.parkwaychurch.ca FB | @parkwaychurchottawa Insta | @parkwaychurchottawa
