For a certain generation, LeVar Burton is synonymous with one of the most powerful programs in TV history - 'Roots'. At 19, in the role of 'Kunta Kinte' LeVar became instantly famous. That was 1977, in 1983, along came another landmark moment. LeVar became the host and co-producer of a PBS program called 'Reading Rainbow' encouraging children to read. It lasted 25 years and won 13 Emmy awards. Oh, and don't forget, in 1987 LeVar landed the role of Lieutenant Commander Geordi Laforge - the blind chief engineer on 'Star Trek - The New Generation' nThat show was hugely popular and LeVar appeared in every episode. If that weren't enough, in the Will Smith film 'Ali' LeVar played Martin Luther King Jr. Now, he's starring in a drama on Super Channel called 'Taken in Broad Daylight.'
