Levitical Priesthood Pt 4 ~ Comparing the Levitical Priesthood to the Melchizedek Priesthood

John the Baptist was a Levitical Priest. We know this because it is stated in the scriptures that his father was a Levitical Priest: There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. Luke 1:5 But the angel said to him, Fear not, Zacharias: for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elisabeth shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. Luke 1:12 John the immerser (John the Baptist), who was a Levitical priest, declared Yeshua to be the acceptable lamb of God sacrifice. The Levites departed from following the Torah. The God of Israel found fault with the hearts of His Levitical priests. Because of this, the God of Israel gave us a renewed covenant where the Torah is written upon our hearts: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my Torah in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jeremiah 31:33 For finding fault with them, he says, Behold, the days come, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah…For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will my Torah into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.
