Leviticus: Identity - Ch. 17-22

from Lindsay Lane East Hosted by Heath Haney

What does God actually want from us? It is easy to assume the answer revolves around Sunday morning worship, singing, prayer, and church attendance. But Leviticus 18 through 22 challenges us to think far beyond that. The central message here is that God has never been satisfied with mere religious ritual. He wants to transform who we are at the deepest level. The key verse, found in Leviticus 19:26, declares that God set His people apart from the nations to be His own, calling them to reflect His holiness not just in the tabernacle but in every corner of their lives. This means the way we handle our bodies, the way we treat the vulnerable around us, and the degree to which we resist the slow drift of cultural influence all matter deeply to God. The sobering reality is that drift rarely announces itself. It happens gradually, over years and generations, until the gap between what we believe and how we live becomes enormous. Studies suggest that nearly half of Americans who identify as Christians say their faith has no impact on their daily lives. That statistic should stop us cold. The invitation here is urgent and personal: to notice where we have allowed the world to quietly reshape our values, and to surrender those areas fully to God.
