Lexus Blondin Y Sus Afrocubanos present Afro Cubik A mix of 1950's Cuban-influenced Jazz - Expect Horn Stabs and Spicy Congas Grooves! (MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) 2011-02-21 For his first appearance on the website, London-based French producer and compiler Lexus Blondin has put together an eclectic, yet very selected mix of Afro cuban jazz. This mix will have you travel back and forth from a pre-revolutionary Havana to a post war New York, a time when record producers were not afraid to think large. Their recipe for a different shade of Bebop? Reptilian brass sections, subtle arrangements written by monuments like Lalo Schiffrin or Chico O' Farril, coupled with the musicianship of talented soloists such as James Moody, Art Blakey, Machito or Cal Tjader. The result was a percussion heavy form of music with which jazz chords and improvisation found a new structure to play around. Four to the floor double bass, swirling trumpet solos, Hard Bop piano chords makes it a delight for Jazz dancers and sample seekers. Beware, this mix is highly explosive, handle with care!
