Lies, Letters, and the Last Tsar: The Romanovs' Forged Past

In episode 206, Lucas and Luna dig into a story the Romanovs themselves tried to erase: the centuries of forged documents, invented genealogies, and rewritten histories that propped up their throne. From the forged 'Testament of Peter the Great' that fueled 19th-century paranoia to the Romanovs' own claim of descent from Rurik, they trace how a dynasty built on myth tried to control its own story — and how those myths came crashing down in 1917. Along the way they meet the monk Filaret, whose lies helped launch the dynasty, and the Soviet archivists who exposed the frauds. It's a tale of ink, paper, and power — and a reminder that history is written by the victors, even when they're lying. #Romanovs #History #FexingoHistory #Forgery #Propaganda #PeterTheGreat #Rurik #Filaret #RussianHistory #Tsar #Dynasty #1917 #RomanovMyth #TestamentOfPeter #Genealogy #SovietArchives #EasternEurope #ImperialRussia Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
