[Life:116] The Quran as Knowledge, Guidance and Healing
In this lecture, we explore the Qur’an as a central source of religious knowledge in Islam, focusing on its role as divine guidance (hudā), proof (ḥujjah), and living extension of Prophetic authority. Building on a twofold framework of religious knowledge - foundational worldview and disciplinary/classical knowledge. This talk concentrates on the second: the Qur’an and Hadith as structured, authoritative sources of guidance. The lecture examines how revelation functions when direct access to God is not possible, highlighting the Qur’an as a universal light for all humanity and a special, conditional guide for believers (the God-conscious). We analyze the Qur’an’s self-descriptions as healing, mercy, reminder, counsel, miracle, and proof of divine knowledge, as well as its miraculous challenge. Hosted on Acast.
