Life after a guilty verdict - what nobody talks about
from Angie McQuillin Unsilenced · host Unsilenced-Survivor's Journey
“You must be happy he was sent down.” No actually - happy isn’t not the word. It’s not like that. Let me explain…..There is a regular assumption and misconception that once my r@pist was found guilty I'd be home drinking champagne feeling ‘happy’. What people miss is what myself and my family had to endure for 6 years before I got to that stage. After so much of a battle and so many twists and turns I felt almost emotionally numb and it's taken a while to rebalance myself over the last 6 months.I'm very grateful I got the verdict I but 'happy' isn't the word I use for the immediate aftermath. There is no ‘happy’ in being raped. No happy surviving the justice system for 6 years and I’m going to assume my r@pist isn’t feeling happy now either. In this podcast I open up about what 6 months after the verdict actually looks like.If any of this resonates with you - feel free to reach out.
