She grew up in a two-parent household, with her mother staying home until the children were older and her father working as a truck driver for a lumber yard. Brenda enjoyed a wonderful childhood in Queens, riding her bike and playing outside with friends. She is the middle child and has four siblings: two brothers and a sister. During the 1970s, she experienced the integration of schools and attended public and middle school in Flushing, eventually graduating from Jamaica High School. Brenda earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in Urban Studies from Queens College. As a single mother, she has four beautiful children: three boys and one girl. Her eldest son, 30, is a detective; her second son, 27, is an assistant coach for the women's basketball team at Adelphi University, as well as an assistant coach for Queens Defenders and Forest Hills High School, where he graduated and played on the varsity team. Her youngest children, twins aged 20, work and plan to attend college. Brenda's children are her pride and joy.
