Hello jazz, how you doing today? How are you? I can't complain too much. I cannot.
Yes. So, let's get started. Welcome to another episode of Truth to Power. I mean, tell my international people I'm international.
I didn't know I was international. But yeah, I'm a part of international. But this came here with jazz to discuss the life lessons from Lipsi hustle. For those who don't know Lipsi hustle is a co-pop artist.
He just passed recently from being murdered by somebody down by a name of shitty cars. And very, very unfortunate that we lost somebody like this. But just give a little background on Lipsi. He was raised in the Crenshaw neighborhood in Los Angeles.
He was a member of the Rolling Sixies neighborhood, Crip Game. However, he was able to rise above his circumstances. He wasn't given much to flourishes. People in a dominant society was, but he made the best out of what he was able to do.
And he even released a mixtape by the name of Crenshaw, which he charged $100 for. And that, to me, showed a lot of confidence to me that showed no one which was worse. He did everything on his own. He had his own record label.
And he did really go with a major record label because of the fact that they were trying to lowball him, so to speak. So, jazz, do you know about Lipsi hustle? Or do you know about him? I know of him.
Just basically his start on that much of the challenge. I wasn't too familiar with his music. I'm still not familiar with his music. I'm still learning a little bit here and there about him.
He seemed to be really loved and really a stand-up solid person, you know, from what I see. Yeah. Somebody who just turned his life around. So, what you hear about people that are doing good for the neighborhood or doing great things for the neighborhood, how does it make you feel when you hear that they've been murdered under some mysterious circumstances like Nipsey was?
I mean, it's almost like you can say, well, you live by it. You die by it. You know, we turn our lives around sometimes, but sometimes we turn them around too late and damages are already done. But at the same token, you know, regardless of all that, if you're helping another man or another family or your brother than your sister's, you know, your community, like how apparently he's done so much of, it's frustrating.
It's very frustrating, especially when it's his own brothers and sisters that stick in his life, you know, where he's done more for his community than they are. And it's all the same community. So, it's frustrating. Yeah.
I grew up with John there because I was thinking the same thing. Like, for me, here Nipsey, I've been on Nipsey for a while, but for me, just hearing the music and just understanding his life and the positivity that he was bringing to just not Los Angeles, but to the rap game, because I feel like the rap game just really needed somebody like him. Because there's too much mobbing and rap going on. There's not enough intelligence going on.
But for me, when they say he got shot, I feel like when Tupac got shot, I feel like this. I feel the same way, like, we just lost a great talent. But you know, there's some conspiracy theories going on. He's because he was working on a Dr.
C. B documentary that the government kind of plotted his job. What do you think about that? I don't know.
I can't say that that's true. You know, it's so many ways in here that could have been executed. You know, if that was the case, you know, I know that you got a lot of dirty cops and one thing I learned is how law enforcement operate, you know, I know that you got a lot of dirty cops. If you're in a hole and they feel like it can be the ticket to bag somebody else, they'll use it.
They'll use it and they can do that and they do it. And that's their methods, you know, they could have paid to do it all. The dude could have been in some heavy shit himself and they gave him a deal. You know, it's just, you never know.
But at the end of the day, we got Nick Cannon doing it. Now, is Nick Cannon somebody that you can see getting murdered? No, however, history tells me different. History tells me different.
Just how perfect that. And like supremacy, they don't have any type of special targets. They go after whoever and whatever. And most of the time, like, they'll pay one of us, they'll kill one of us.
Just to make it seem like it was thought up by one of us. You know what I'm saying? Right. You know what I'm saying?
So, you know, you know. Yeah. Kids don't have a father, you know, parents don't have a son. Community don't have a leader.
You know, it sucks. It sucks. But I didn't know he was a part of a gang. I didn't know.
I heard him say something about the Roland 60s, but me not knowing what that is. Yeah. So like the Roland Sis is the Crib gang. But if you want to stand there, they're not as active as they were in the 90s.
And it's not as bad up in LA as a matter of fact, you know, if you want to stand, he was working with a lot of blogs and a lot of Cribs and just to get the community together. So he did a lot of good before, you know, he's been there for 32 years. Right. Yeah.
And he always pushed by the tivity. Right. Okay. I just think that it's unfortunate.
Like once you rise above your circumstances and he's actually grabbing nominated to, but that's a wrap up of the year. But I think it's just unfortunate. Like it's like people when we rise above our circumstances, that we always get cut down short or achieving our maximum potential. You know what I'm saying?
Yeah, some of us, you know, Yeah. I can't, it ain't all of us. You know, everybody not getting cut down and butchered. You know, a lot of, a lot of times, I think that we spend so much time not being focused.
And I'm not saying that's him, but just in general, you know, I think I said the community, it takes us so much longer just to get out here around our focus and I hear around our talents and is one thing to know about it. It's another thing to know how to execute and prosper in it. You know, and so when I miss all of that, you got distractions and life happens. And, you know, we got to take care of family.
You know, sometimes things have to wait. We don't have those luxuries, you know, that freedom, that freeness, so to speak, you know, that our counterparts here, if I can see that and you understand what I'm saying. So, you know, when somebody gets it and it clicks from is like, it's impossible. Or should I say, possibilities are endless, you know, anything's possible.
And I think for him, it clicked, you know, and number one, number one, which your purpose is you're not here for yourself. You're here for the community. You're here for everybody else. Nobody is here to be selfish.
We're all here to be aid of our brothers and sisters. And that's what it's supposed to be about. You got a lot of selfish people walking to earth and they got successful label on top of heads. Like that's what success is.
And it's not success is when you pull up somebody else bootstraps. They can't pull it up for themselves and you teach them, and you teach them how to fish. You know, a lot of us, we want to feed people, but we don't want to feed themselves. They can keep coming back so we can say we doing it.
You know, that's selfish. That's selfish. So, you know, so how do you think we go about getting more people to fish? So there are people that have an opportunity to learn how to fish.
I mean, the opportunities are there. The opportunities are there, you know, I think we have real success stories coming forward. And not just the glitz and the glam type of things that like I was, you know, when they do pass, I was thinking how everybody has something positive to see about. Or whatever the case.
But I don't remember seeing nothing about nipsey hustle and nobody posts ever before. Not for the most part. You know what I'm saying? And this is just another hashtag like why had to be that you love him so much.
Why you impose his picture before? Why you didn't post his music before? You know, don't try to feed it. You know, it's kind of late in the sense of being in that moment with him while he's here on this earth.
And I'm like, see, everybody is so concerned with the fantasy of the rap life. Only rappers getting gunned down. No body. It was getting gunned down like talking about black lawyers not getting gunned down black doctors, black nurses, black pharmacists, you know, get some athletes killed, but it's only the rappers.
It's only our rappers. There's dying. What do you think it is? I think that it's a fantasy out here.
I think that a lot of them rap about things and a life. You know, I'm not and I'm not talking about nipsey hustle. I'm just saying in general, I'm talking about imagine somebody imagine a rapper really rapping on some real stuff, some real person of stuff in their life. Ain't no way.
They wouldn't have a song. They wouldn't have four, five verses. They wouldn't have it. You just can't make this up.
Truthfully and sell albums. You know what I'm saying? It's like, I don't know. That's just how I feel.
I just feel like it's a fantasy, the whole the gang banging lifestyle or, you know, everybody going to be hating on me and this and that or everybody want what I got in the jealousy and they won't rap about it. And it was like they shove it into our face and shove it down our throat. I mean, how often are you going to show off something and that becoming? Yeah.
You know, and it's like, okay, it's so much pro. Okay. Just kind of breaking up. You're not just kidding.
Okay. You don't know what it is. Hello. Tyrus.
Yes. I'm sorry. I got a phone. That's okay.
Why is my phone light? I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I don't know.
I guess do not disturb or something. What was I saying? You know, about it is like it's a fantasy and everybody chasing a fantasy. Everybody chasing a dream and nobody's standing up to say, look, this is not real.
Yeah. You know, everything is visual with us. You know, like, I don't know who he was. All I thought was he was Lauren, Lauren London's boyfriend.
I didn't even know it was Mary. That's all I would see. He looked good. You know, he looked nice.
He was swag to her. Other than that, I don't know this man. He was so sad to see that he was gone down the way he was gone down about who he was gone down by. You know, I think that was just terrible.
Just very horrible. But you know what I took from like Nipsey just like from his interviews and stuff like that. And just a song. So very genuinely.
And it just seemed like he just wanted to do better. They just built like a stadium in Los Angeles. And you know how to try identifying this once they build like stadium, just like that. And he was encouraging people in the neighborhood.
Don't sell your home. As a matter of fact, if you can, he was encouraging people to buy more homes. So his neighborhood doesn't get gentrified and they don't have to ethnically clean the neighborhood and you know, bring in white people as they usually do. But you know, you said something very interesting.
You said there wasn't mention of why he was allowed. Why do you think it is that people don't want to give you your roses while you're here? That's an old saying. Give me my flowers while I'm here.
Give me my roses while I'm here. How do you think it is? Because I think in a part of everybody is some selfishness and some some crabs in the barrel. We just look at all day and say we're not crabs in the barrel, but at the same time, say black people crapping the barrel, what you just said, you're not one.
But you're like, you know, that is like deep down something is dysfunctional. Deep down something is all something that's still conditioned to hate each other. You know, whether we have come to terms with it or not, you know, yes, ugly is nasty is murky. It's not something that we're going to identify with.
But when we speak about black people, we speak about all of us in this sense. So y'all wasn't posting his music before. Y'all don't have to post his pictures, but post his music when he dropped, what he dropped, what he was talking about. I'm always saying, I don't know what he was saying.
I'm not putting all of that out for you. And then everybody, like I felt sad when I saw that. But I'm not going to post this man because I don't know this name. So all the people that flutt in my timeline, it was just like ridiculous.
Like we all talk about what you don't know. Yeah. You know, and it's not to say that that takes away from his character and takes away from the good that he did. But I didn't know the man was in the game.
I kept my mouth shut about it. Somebody said yesterday, well, you know, you live that life. And I wanted to say what you love out there. You don't know the Bible.
What you even talking about this, because he ever wrapped up trust me, every rapper and gang, every rapper and every rapper and killing. I don't know what they're talking about. They're not doing it. And another thing, I want to say like, LA culture, that's why I'm like, LA culture and gang culture and LA.
I understand it. You know, I can say I'm very ignorant about it because I'm from Louisiana, but from what I gather from LA culture is like they don't, like, you either, like, when you were one set or you were another, like, you basically don't have a choice. It's like a generational type thing. You know what I'm saying?
Like, like, like people from Third War can say, oh, well, you know, I'm from the nine or whatever case like that, because they were born in a third in a third war. That's where they're from. So they got to represent where they're from. And, you know, do not really give it a dangerous being black within itself.
We really not giving the same advantages as most people. And especially if you're running in the Paris area, it's known for crime. Yeah, you know, you know, so. So with that, it just kind of, you know, just to put that to such perspective.
Yeah. But, you know, but, you know, it's sad. Things happen to what happened, you know, but we got to realize, too, in another hard pill to swallow, you know, nobody is here for us, necessarily. Like, I'm not here so that you can serve your purpose in a sense.
You know, I could be, but you don't, you know, unless you got a perfect about that. You don't really know. So, you know, God got us here. And then when God feel like we've done our job, we go back home.
That's what I mean. You know, it's like we're set here to do a job. Not to nine or five. We wake up every day to the other thing that we say we wanted to do, whatever our purpose was, you know, and every day, these uptile purpose and who's to say that we pervy today.
Before we go, we don't know what our purpose is. Before some of us do. And then some of us don't. You feel me?
Because if that was the case and we would know the day in the hour and the time and none of us knew that. So, you know, I just, I just hope that, you know, and this way, anybody that passes away, you know, you make peace with God so that you're so is right. And so that you free you that you are freedom. And you don't have to talk about it as a harness like, because the grind talked about you just are you feel me?
Yeah. And I do feel that, like you said, I feel like we are just people and just humans. We do have a purpose and there's some of our purposes that serve another, the serving of the people and serving your community and making it better before you leave. I think I think we did a great job of doing that before he left.
He felt this coming up to me and so the people and, you know, God uses us to do his work. Yeah. Yeah. That's so true.
Because we're not here by ourselves. Like, maybe it wasn't here to serve Nippy. You feel me? And he knew it from what I gathered.
This man knew this. This man was a forward thinker, you know, and it's unfortunate that all, you know, because it's, you don't get forward thinking too much. Because you got too much of us trying to get out of the condition and the restraints and the violence we need to be a forward thinker. We don't know what that is.
If we don't even know, we don't even have vocabulary in our, you know, we speak for a thinker, you know, this one. All of him, a forward thinker, people don't talk like that about somebody. You know, it's like post-toon, you know, they don't say a person is a forward thinker. So that was like inspiration to me.
Like be a forward thinker. Like every day, be mindful. God gives us a grain. He gives us intellect.
God is intelligence. You got relationship with God. You got intelligence. You feel me?
Some of us ain't got relationship. And guess what? We still got the grace to have that intelligence. I'll just try to lean on our own understanding and the whole is God in we.
You feel me? So it's like God is intelligence. That's it. He is it all.
He is a forward thinker. That's what he's supposed to be. How you going to be a forward thinker? You can't leave.
No community, not forward thinking. Think about the Black Panther Party and Martin DeKine and Malcolm Max. These are forward thinkers. We're in the communities.
Yes. Serving people. Serving people. Yep.
Nope. You can drop some gems up in here. No. No guys.
No. The flip side. The other flip side of God being intelligent. I want to tell everybody that the devil is to pity.
People say that the devil is working. But they say that the people is in the world. You know. I don't have to disagree with you.
I think I know what you're going with that. I'm going to say it like this. The devil is intelligent. The devil is very intelligent.
The devil is too intelligent for his own goods. So he's slick. So he can't deny it. So he's cunning.
He will do by any means necessary whatever it'll take to make us stupid. You feel me? Yeah. He's intelligent.
We're the super ones. We don't want to be sucked and get trapped up in the little web of lies that he's spewed. You know, he pulled a thing on the line and conniving and being evil. You know, he perverts the truth.
You know, God is all truth and all life. So whatever is opposite of that is the devil. You know, operate. Just like just, you know, you know, you know, are you a preacher on the slick?
No. You know, tell him about it. No. No.
You feel me? We're all ministered. That's it. You know, it's like, if you go and you know, whatever the opposite of a truth, or let's say if you take a lie and you, and you flip it.
And that's, that's, that's the truth. You know, I used to be hard on myself about hearing the voice of God and understanding. If it's God speaking to me, if it's the enemy or if it's myself, you know, and I read this, uh, and I'll shoot it to you as soon as I can find it. But it was this excerpt in the Bible app.
And it was basically just saying, you know, number one, you have to read a word of God. to even understand, to begin to understand his character, you know, who he is and how he does in the operate. God is not gonna operate in an ill way to let a blessing come out of it. You feel me?
It's like, the devil will work that way, but God doesn't work that way. Everything is pure, 100%. He's not gonna use, you know, if we make a mistake, then it's in his power to be able to flip that for his good, but it's not something that he's gonna promote and push us to do being something evil or wrong. You feel me?
So it's like, learn understanding the character I got. And just knowing that whatever is a lie, reverse it. I'm perverted, you know, and know that, okay, whatever the opposite of this lie is, like black is evil, black people are evil. Flip it, you know, flip it.
That's not God speaking. That's the enemy speaking. We know black people aren't evil, you feel me? Yeah.
So it's like, or, you know, or say we the last ones and we deserve nothing. That's perverted. Flip it. God tells us we kings and queens, you feel me?
He promotes us. He elevates us. So just flip it. Yeah.
That's all I'm gonna say. And we all don't have people, you know, God, and we all made a hit image. And just to put that out there, we are an instinctive guy, since we are the original people in medicine, is image from his blood, from his yoke. But yeah, I just want to talk about New York City, using them all here longer than this, especially when I got jazz on the line, but I'm working on this back.
But I'm working on this back in the way that I know what it's part of takes saying, that they're very busy. Okay. Very busy to say the least. Very busy to say the least.
But leave us with something palliative, don't say. It's not like palliative activity out here. It's not like palliative activity. You know, my thing is, you know, receive the flowers on the balloon, you know, pick your friends like you pick food, you know, give people the flowers while they can still smell them, not while it's going in the ground with, you know, exalt people, because it's not for us to start ourselves.
Just for the next man, your brothers and sisters, exalt, if you're mean. But give them something worth that, you know, be real, be in communion with God. So, you know, we can have a clear vision about purpose and what we here to do. We know we here to serve, but then we need execution.
We need methods. We need techniques. We need intelligence. You know, we need forward thinking.
And just, just see how so, you know, just, just be a forward thinker, be a forward thinker for your community and know that you can't do it without God. Because he is for the people. And then that's all I got. That was beautiful.
What I got is I got an X-ray for one of these songs called Double Up. They also say Double Up three or four times. I ain't telling them line, but I just run it up. Double up, hard time, humble us.
Double up. From that word, he would just say, like, double that in a hard time, just make you fall from, never fall from your circumstances, basically. And just get back on your feet and continue to serve. And just double it up and double it up and continue to keep striving for what you want.
And that's what I took from him. That's what I took from his life. And in my opinion, he lived a beautiful third or two years. And like Dad said, we got to live in our purpose.
And our purpose is to serve God and also serve each other as human beings and as people. And we just spoke truth about. Truth about. Have a good night.
Have a good night.
