Jon D. Miller, PhD is Director of the International Center for the Advancement of Scientific Literacy at the University of Michigan. Dr. Smith’s research found that 48 percent of Generation X are enrolled in continuing education courses or other job training. He explained why technology and the changing job market have made it necessary for midcareer professionals to pursue lifelong learning opportunities. He believes this is the new norm, particularly in technical fields.
