Life Song: I've Messed Up
from Grand Parkway Baptist Church · host Neil McClendon
Psalm 32 THE BIBLE ASSUMES OUR SINFULNESS, v. 1-2 Why do you need God? How does the life, death and resurrection of Jesus make any sense? What is there to be redeemed from or for? Is there an objective moral standard by which all of life is evaluated? Is there such thing as truth and who decides? Does absolute truth exist? Three things you have to explain if you believe man is inherently good... a) the state of the world “We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope for.” --Timothy Keller b) our sinful choices “For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.” -Romans 7:15-19 c) Jesus Christ 2. THERE IS ALWAYS A CONSEQUENCE FOR SIN, v. 3-4 Two phrases to notice: 1) “when I kept silent” 2) “your hand was heavy upon me” 3. WE HAVE AN EXAMPLE TO FOLLOW, v. 5 a) “I’m sorry if you thought that.” b) “There must of been some sort of confusion.” c) “I’m not sure what happened.” d) “I don’t have a problem with it” Psalm 32:6-11Be sure to follow us:InstagramFacebookYoutube
