Life Stories #46: Victoria Loustalot

When Victoria Loustalot was four years old, her father told her mother that he was both gay and HIV-positive. He killed himself when she was 11, before AIDS could fully destroy his health. Years later, in an effort to understand the man she barely knew growing up, Victoria would visit some of the foreign cities where he lived, and where he'd once promised to take her. Along the way, she came to some important conclusions about her own emotional well-being. She describes both her childhood and that adult journey in her memoir, This Is How You Say Goodbye.
