Life Stories... With Jon Hobbs
from Life Stories · host Andy Thomas
Jon is one of the foremost names in acupuncture and is chairman of the board of directors for the Acupuncture Association for Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP). Jon explains how he had a very unusual route in to physio starting out as a musician. Upon becoming a physio, he has worked in the NHS, professional football (Port Vale FC) and in academia. Interestingly Jon became disillusioned with Acupuncture at one stage in his career and he tells me what made him start to use it again. Jon has a very positive outlook on life which he says has been enhanced by surviving heart surgery in 2013. He even did his own cardiac rehab as he had written a course on this previously...! It was great to hear the support he had from Rick Carter during a time when he thought there was a very good chance he would die. Since this time he has gone on to set up a very successful needling training company, worked on many research papers and has a book coming out. Jon has definitely not had a conventional life, but he has used it to drive himself and has an amazingly positive attitude. I am very excited to be working with him on several projects in the future!
