Life Stories... With Matt Radcliffe

Matthew is the co-founder of Radcliffe Group having teamed up with younger brother Mark. He is also personal physiotherapist to various elite professional athletes and one of the most experienced and well-respected injury prevention specialists to emerge from the English Premier League. He has been successfully implementing his philosophy at the highest level for over 20 years. Like many young boys, Matthew grew up with aspirations to become a professional footballer, and after starting his journey with Bury FC he sustained a career ending injury that provoked a keen interest in treatment, management and more specifically prevention of Injuries. He completed a bachelor’s degree in Sports Science & Coaching, an additional degree in Physiotherapy and became one of the youngest physios in the professional game commencing his first role at Bury FC. After a number of years operating in the lower divisions Matt was recruited by Southampton and was instrumental in building the reputable medical and sports science department it is known for now, and the rapid rise through the leagues back to the Premiership, whilst also working for the Welsh National team under the late great Gary Speed. Matthew was then headhunted by Manchester United FC. to fulfil a similar role and enhance player availability and performance levels using the same methods.
