Life Updating and An Inventive (Though Likely Illegal) Way to Solve the NYC Housing Crisis

I'm starting on some self-improvement but couldn't help but reflect on the housing situation I had to deal with before I got my very nice apartment.  One evening, at the peak of my frustration, I thought of a clever way to resolve this nonsense I'm sure anyone who's lived it + is law abiding would be on board with. This pic is a random comment I saw on a subway closure sign.  I like taking pics of random art I see in the subway but this just sums up the people who created the legal framework resulting in too many law abiding renters seeking homes while deadbeats who terrorize everyone get to live for years rent free and do whatever they want with zero consequences.
