What this episode covers
Lara Bazelon is an Associate Professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law, where she directs the Criminal & Juvenile Justice and Racial Justice Clinics. Dogs were always part of her family while growing up. After college she experienced a series of negative dog incidents, including a dog bite while running in the park, and she began to greatly dislike dogs. Later, as a single mother, her kids were always asking for a dog - but she was adamant that the answer was “No.” Then, the pandemic came, and she reconsidered getting a dog for the sake of her kids to be able to provide a sense of family connection, unconditional love, structure during an uncertain time. Little did she know, however, it was her who would find the most joy in their furry companion.
