At some point a transcriber assumed the man was correct and added verse four which included this assumption. This is likely not in the original version of the story. Jesus challenged the man’s assumptions. The man thought he had to be faster and better than someone else to be healed. Jesus told him to focus on himself and get up. And the man did. Life’s not a competition. It’s not about running faster than everyone else. It’s about running our personal best. I’m Horace McMillon.
