They cannot afford a lamb. But they are bringing the Lamb. The Lord whom Israel sought has suddenly come to His house, just as Malachi prophesied, yet He arrives as a six-week-old infant in the arms of a peasant girl. Almost no one notices. But an old man named Simeon, who had been promised he would see salvation before death, takes the child in trembling arms and sings words that still echo through the Church: "My eyes have seen your salvation, a light for revelation to the nations." And an eighty-four-year-old widow named Anna, who never left the Temple, recognizes in this infant the answer to Israel's hope and begins telling everyone who would listen.Malachi spoke of a refiner's fire, a purifier who would sit before the crucible until he could see his own reflection in the molten metal. Hebrews explains why God became flesh, sharing in blood and bone so that through death He might destroy the power of death and become a merciful high priest who understands our struggles from within. The light that illuminates also exposes. The salvation that comforts also confronts. Simeon warned Mary that a sword would pierce her soul. The thoughts of many hearts would be revealed. This is the feast of light entering darkness, of glory arriving in humility, of the King coming to His temple so quietly that only the faithful waiters even knew He was there.📖 ReadingsFirst Reading: Malachi 3:1-4Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 24:7, 8, 9, 10Second Reading: Hebrews 2: 14-18Gospel: Luke 2: 22-40⏱️ Timeline00:00 Introduction00:15 Reading I - Malachi 3:1-401:05 Psalm Response - Psalm 2405:36 Reading II - Hebrews 2: 14-1806:26 Gospel - Luke 2: 22-4008:49 Reflection - Light Entering the Temple🎧 Prefer to listen on the go?
