Light of the World

from Thought For Today · host Angus Buchan

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Monday morning, the 1st of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 8:12: Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the Light of life.” Jesus is the Light of the world. Then that scripture that you and I know so well, Psalm 119:105: “Your word is a lamp to my feetAnd a light to my path.”If we know Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour, you and I should never, ever get lost because He is the Light and He will show us the way home. I am talking the way home to Heaven. We are not talking so much about physical sight. We are talking about spiritual sight. Helen Keller was an amazing woman. She was born blind and deaf. That baby had no contact with the world. It was like she was in a steel cage and she couldn’t get out, but eventually she started to respond to movements on her hand, and then she could speak, she could preach, she was one of America’s greatest ambassadors, but she said something that really startled me. She said, “There is nothing more pathetic in this world, than someone who can see but has no vision." Now, I want to ask you a question this morning and I am asking myself the very same question. Do we have vision? We can see but we are going nowhere. Why? Because we need to meet the Man from Galilee. He is the Light of the world. If we look at John 1:1, it says, “In the beginning was the Word…” and then we go to Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet…” It’s the Bible, folks, it is the Bible that will give us vision. Helen Keller couldn’t see, she couldn’t hear, but she had plenty vision. I want to say to you today, open your spiritual eyes. Spend time reading your Bible every single morning and then obeying what you read in the Bible and you will have sight and you will know the way. Remember, Jesus is the Way.God bless you and have a fantastic day,Goodbye
