It is ideal for first-time visitors who want a scenic introduction to Liguria beyond a single city. The route begins in Sanremo at the Festival Village, a place tied to the city’s musical identity, then continues east through Savona and Genoa for flavorful food stops. From there, the journey reaches the remarkable Abbazia di San Fruttuoso, a medieval abbey tucked into a secluded cove, before moving on to the waters around Portofino and the open-air sculptures of the Museo del Parco. The tour then carries you farther along the coast to Portofino and Monterosso al Mare, one of the best-known villages of the Cinque Terre. Near the end, the route follows the sea toward La Spezia, with a stop linked to boat travel in the Cinque Terre and Gulf of Poets area, and finishes at the Comitato delle Borgate del Palio del Golfo. Along the way, the most memorable moments include tasting Ligurian street food and pasta, seeing an ancient abbey framed by the sea, passing elegant harbors and sculpture-filled promenades, and arriving among the colorful coastal landscapes that make this stretch of Italy unforgettable.
