from Original Christian Poetry · host Kai-Anne Clews

Why are the poor so numerous? Why is this so? On every corner a hundred hands, Begging for bread, God knows… When a poor man reaches out his Hand, asking for your blessing, He is actually offering you, The Kingdom of grace, in his disguise so distressing. For our loving Lord likes to make reply, To us for all our actions, And He rewards us generously, For providing the poor some satisfaction. So when the great Kingdom comes, And the damned all shout they had no help, All the poor will then stand up, Their robes bright, their hearts glad, For they made a permanent outpost, Offering ALL Gods hand. For as the poor accepted bread, From all kind souls who would give it, So they extended the Kingdom of Heaven, To all kind souls to receive it. The Kingdom of Heaven is available On every street corner of the earth, In showing kindness to the homeless and the starving, A chance at the second birth.
