L’Imperialismo fu un fenomeno sviluppatosi in Europa tra il 1870 ed il 1914. Definito in modo molteplice, fu ampiamente discusso nel dibattito storiografico. Un periodo di grandi trasformazioni, di rivalità militari e di conquiste territoriali, necessità di espansione economica e commerciale, l’Imperialismo sconvolse il mondo trasformandone la geopolitica. Per Storiainpodcast, il Prof. Ricciardi analizza un fenomeno complesso mettendo in evidenza tutte le parole chiave fondamentali alla sua descrizione – economia globalizzata, cultura e ideologia – soffermandosi sulla “lunga pace” in Europa, epoca di progresso e benessere interrottasi bruscamente con l’avvento della Prima Guerra Mondiale ed il radicarsi del nazionalismo.Toni Ricciardi, è storico delle migrazioni e delle catastrofi presso l’Università di Ginevra.
