Linda Yael Schiller – Moving From Trauma to Growth Through Dreams

from Dream Power Radio · host Amazing Women and Men Of Power

When people of a certain age (like me) think of the term Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, the mind jumps to the horrors face by Vietnam Vets as they struggle to deal with post-war life. Night after night of terrorizing nightmares forces them to relive their cruel and stressful daytime experiences. But PTSD can be felt by anyone who’s faced an unthinkable ordeal, such as rape, assault or other crimes or people like first responders and health workers who face day-in, day-out stress. In recent years, one of the more effective treatments for PTSD has been dreamwork. We discuss this with psychotherapist and dream expert Linda Yael Schiller, who treats those dealing with trauma by helping them work through their nightmares. The result often leads to a new outlook: Post Traumatic Growth. Her new book, PTS Dreams: Transforn Your Nightmares fro Trauma through Healing Dreamwork documents this process. As Linda tells us:•There’s a difference between acute and chronic nightmares•Why the emotion is critical to understanding nightmares•What you can learn from your nightmares•Why she believes we all have the power to heal•Understanding the PARDES system of dreamwork•Why its important to create a safe space for working with traumatic nightmares•How to move from PTSD to PTS GrowthIf you know someone who has debilitating nightmares or you have them yourself, you won’t want to miss this powerful episode of Dream Power Radio.
