Lindsay Clancy Trial Day 18 | Defense Rests as Experts Clash Over Psychosis

Day 18 brought the Lindsay Clancy defense case to an end with testimony from renowned forensic psychiatrist Dr. Phillip Resnick, who previously testified in the Andrea Yates case. Resnick told jurors he believed Lindsay was “frankly psychotic” when she killed Cora, Dawson and Callan. He described her reported command hallucination and her belief that an outside force had taken control, concluding that she could not appreciate the wrongfulness of her actions or control her behavior. He also testified that he found no evidence Lindsay was malingering or exaggerating her psychiatric symptoms.After Resnick finished, Kevin Reddington announced, “Lindsay Clancy rests,” and the Commonwealth immediately began its rebuttal case with forensic psychiatrist Dr. Avram Mack. Mack offered jurors a dramatically different interpretation, diagnosing Lindsay with major depression and anxiety while disputing the defense's bipolar diagnosis and the claim that she was psychotic.
