Lindsay Clancy Trial: Three First Responders Testify — What They Found in That House

from Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary · host True Crime Today

Three first responders took the stand today in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, the Duxbury, Massachusetts mother accused of strangling her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan — with exercise bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. Clancy faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation. She's pleaded not guilty, and her attorney, Kevin Reddington, is mounting an insanity defense built on claims of severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.Duxbury firefighter-paramedic Patrick Dwyer described arriving to a scene most people spend their careers hoping to never see, working to resuscitate Cora before rushing her to the hospital. His colleague, Jennifer Stratton, testified to performing CPR on Callan — a baby who, by every account of that day, never had a chance to grow past seven months old. Then came Pembroke's Robert Costanzo, who tried to help Clancy herself, administering Narcan on the assumption she'd overdosed on opioids. She didn't wake up. Costanzo wasn't trained to treat benzodiazepines, which raises an obvious question about what exactly first responders are equipped to identify in the first sixty seconds of chaos. Under cross-examination, he admitted he never noticed the fractures later found in Clancy's spine, and that his hands-on time with her totaled about seven minutes — nowhere near enough to assess the true scope of her neck and wrist injuries.Prosecutors argue Clancy understood what she was doing despite the defense's mental-health claims. After the killings, she allegedly jumped from a second-story window, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Her husband, Patrick Clancy, was out running errands and has since relocated to Manhattan. The trial, underway in Plymouth Superior Court, is expected to run several more weeks.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video?
