Today on America in the MorningLindsey Graham’s Sister Next SC Senator South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster on Monday appointed Darline Graham Nordone, the younger sister of Senator Lindsey Graham who died suddenly over the weekend, to serve the remainder of his term which ends in January.  Washington correspondent Sagar Meghani reports the decision came after President Trump floated the idea, one that was solidly supported by the late-Senator’s colleagues in Congress.   US-Iran Fighting Intensifies Fighting intensified overnight between the US and Iran, with Iran hitting two UAE tankers with cruise missiles, killing one sailor, and the US pounding dozens of targets inside of Iran.  Correspondent Rich Johnson reports President Trump is planning to have the US take control of the Strait of Hormuz – and putting in place an American-collected toll – as well as a blockade of Iranian ports starting this afternoon.   ICE Shooting In Maine For the second time in less than a week, officers with ICE drew their weapons and shot a suspect they were attempting to stop.  orrespondent Ed Donahue reports a 26-year old man died Monday in an ICE related shooting in Maine, just days after a man in Texas was killed in a similar situation.   Latest On Mitch McConnell Senator Mitch McConnell, who has been hospitalized for weeks, released a statement saying a fall led to his absence from Congress.   Making Daylight Savings Time Permanent A bipartisan push to make Daylight Saving Time permanent is heading for a chamber-wide vote after clearing a key House hurdle.   IRS Lawsuit Improper A judge rules that President Trump's lawsuit against the IRS was improper under the law.  Jennifer King reports on the ramifications of the court’s ruling.    ICE Shootings In Texas & Maine For the second time in less than a week, a man involved in a traffic stop by ICE agents was shot and killed, this time in Maine, leaving questions for DHS to answer about this case and the one in Texas.  Merger Lawsuit As many as a dozen states are prepping a lawsuit over the Paramount Skydance and Warner Brothers Discovery merger, and this comes as the Hollywood Reporter says that Paramount is considering moving their business out of California over the legal action.  Lisa Dwyer reports on the latest snag over the Paramount - Warner Bros.
