Consumer activity is moving online, in almost every single industry. Commerce is no different, and e-commerce has quickly become an enormous market disruption. In this interview, Linsay Moore, Owner at Linsay Moore Marketing, shares her origin story and breaks down how to be successful with e-commerce. Linsay's family was very focused on education. Both of her parents were highly educated and her siblings completed Master's degrees, but Linsay just didn't want to go to school. She could do the work, but she didn't like it and dropped out of college after only 2 years. She ended up bouncing around jobs before staying for 4 years with a Medicaire contractor. In this job, she realized that she wanted more from work and decided to make a change. She wanted to move away from a regular job and do something different. She realized that college isn't for everyone. It can be a lot of debt and a lot of time to invest in something if it's not for you. You could take a year off before starting college or find other ways to learn about yourself and your goals before you invest in that path. Don't rush into college and don't go just because everyone is telling you that you should. To fight the negative thoughts of her own and the negative comments from those around her, she has surrounded herself with people who are doing the same thing that she is. She has met some online, in facebook groups, and has met some of them in person to connect, encourage one another, and to help each other grow in their business. This has been one of the best things she has done for her business. It's also important to remember that failure is an opportunity to learn. You can expect to fail, but you can always learn and get back up and try again. By focusing on acts of service and helping others, we can all achieve our dreams through whichever vehicle we decide to pursue them through.
