Lioness Power: Birth, Kundalini + The Way of the Midwife (Raw and Uncut)

from The Wild Temple

In this episode, Avril Bowens, Midwife and founder of The Midwife Method, and I talk  power. We go into what empowered birth looks and feels like, the power of Nature, the power of Kundalini, rites of passage, and how civilization will benefit when the narrative and scenery of maternity care changes. We must move from the old patriarchal models of disempowerment (perpetuated behind closed doors and silent voices) into empowered women, babies, and the families that love them.  I met Avril in Midwifery school in 2000. A wild, Native Irish woman who had been living in the Arctic Circle prior to moving to North Carolina, she inspired me from the beginning with her knowledge and grit. I love her spirit, wit, Irish lore, and the legacy of change she is creating.  Enjoy the listen, and keep your eye out for her Midwifery Summits, the first one will be launching Dec 13-15, 2023. https://www.midwifemethod.com/a/2147524702/dee2qXvF where she will do an interview with me on The Waves of Beauty and Bliss: Kundalini and the Power of Birth. xobrookeWho is Avril Bowens? Equal parts spiritual warrior, healed healer, and practical strategist, Avril Bowens is a midwife, mentor, mother, nurse, Birth Emergency Skills Training Instructor, birth advocate, farmer, and visionary. She is on a mission to help women and people have empowered pregnancy & birth experiences, along with a well-supported transition into parenthood - by bringing the midwife model of care to all women and people - online. Avril made her pivot from active practice to the virtual world after healing from a very traumatic motorcycle accident where she was given the opportunity to put all her knowledge of holistic therapies into practice to heal herself from the extensive injuries sustained. She founded the Midwife Method in 2022 and launched Thriving through Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond Mentoring Program ~ a 12 month journey through the childbearing year providing all the elements of midwifery care, that can be delivered online, designed to complement and enrich the medical care people receive in their home communities so women feel informed, confident and fully capable. Her big vision is to transform the current maternity healthcare system into a midwife-led system that promotes and supports physiological pregnancy and birth, provides true, informed choice, the option to birth at home or in a birth center, facilitates seamless collaborative care with higher level providers when necessary and honors & protects the sanctity of birthing of a family into being."When we change birth practices into a loving and powerful rite of passage, we will see those qualities reflected out into families, communities, culture, and all the systems in place. When we take back birth, we make a stand for the health of families as a primary objective to creating a better world for all."-Avril Bowens, midwife, RN,  B.E.S.T InstructorFounderthe Midwife Methodshe/her/hers
