Send us Fan MailLIONS BARBER COLLECTIVE In 2014, Tom Chapman lost a friend to suicide. In 2015, He founded the Lions Barber Collective.The charity was set up in a bid to help the prevention of suicide.His aim was to create a safe space to provide a vital source of mental health support facilitated by barbers across the country. Barbers are trained to recognise signs and symptoms of mental health, and know what to do if someone opens up to them. We talk about the importance of listening and talking to someone, and how to know when and where to refer clients for help.Tom is passionate that clients be regarded holistically; they are not just marketing tools, and their wellbeing is important. Tom shares his own experiences and we discuss how much of a barber's or hairdresser's role is already that of a therapist, that 'Familiar stranger' that we share so much with, including our thoughts, feelings and who we go through all our major life events with.
