I'm not a "the universe is moving me" kinda guy. At least, I wasn't until about a month ago. I've had some swirling thoughts lately around growing up, processing racial incidents, micro-traumas, etc. And, as I've moved through those thoughts, I've been attentive to how others with similar backgrounds have navigated through their similar experiences.  {Door opens. Lisa Johnson enters.} Lisa Johnson grew up two doors away from me in Bardstown, KY. She is the HR Director at the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, a public speaker, and a communications coach. She works with different organizations to help build leadership skills. She is also published in "Imagination@Work: Shifting Boundaries in The Modern Workplace." Recently she performed a TEDx Talk about Implicit Bias. You can find Lisa's TEDx Talk "Moving Beyond Implicit Bias" here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1FpY7gmCXw

The Way of the Wind by Zoe Anderson Norris Loyal Books From the comfort of the hills of Kentucky traveled Celia and her husband Seth to the desolate prairies of Kansas, where cyclones, tornadoes, and endless wind were to greet them. Always, there was the wind cutting across the plains as the young couple builds their home while working the soil, while Seth awaits the wise men of the east to begin building the magic city where he has staked his territory on the plains. But sometimes life plays cruel tricks upon us. Sometimes our hopes are dashed by happenstance. Sometimes our greatest dreams born of purest intentions become our deepest tragedies. All too often we seek the calmness and serenity of life only to learn that we have inadvertently walked directly into The Way of the Wind. We will fill the tank and crank that flywheel, proving that one person's story is often all you need to get things rolling. People ask about what sparked my debut novel, Back to Blue Holly, and the answer is easy. The book is place and PEOPLE-inspired.
