Lisa Weibrecht on Lake Placid and Raising an Olympic Ski Racer

Send us Fan MailOn the eve of the 2022 Winter Olympics, Nicole and Sarah host ski mom Lisa Weibrecht, the mother of 5 skiers (including two time Olympic alpine medalist Andrew Weibrecht) and co-proprietor of the Mirror Lake Inn Resort & Spa in Lake Placid, New York.Lisa tells us about the vibrant history of Lake Placid which hosted the Winter Olympic Games in 1932 and 1980.Lisa would bring her children to nearby Whiteface Mountain to ski almost every day, and after that they would ice skate on the lake.  Lisa gives us some much needed perspective with stories about her son Andrew, a World Cup alpine ski racer and two time Olympic medalist. We learn how it’s important that kids carry their own skis and that mom doesn’t learn to ski tune :)Lisa tells us about all the wonderful things to do in Lake Placid, from skiing at Whiteface Mountain to beautiful trails for snowshoeing and cross country skiing, dog sledding and ice skating on the lake.
