Listen and Keep Quiet to Hear the Voice of God

Ecclesiastes 5:1 says, "Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools..." That means when you come into the presence of God, He's not asking for your noise—He's asking for your attention. Solomon warns us: don't walk into sacred space like a fool. Don't offer God performance when what He wants is posture. The throne room isn't a stage—it's a courtroom. And the Judge doesn't tolerate foolishness. When we show up in God's presence, we need to be quiet long enough to hear what He's already been saying. The most dangerous noise in your life might be your own mouth. Silence is not punishment—it's protocol. We know how to be loud in church. But do we know how to listen in prayer? When Moses approached God, he didn't shout. He took off his sandals because the ground was holy. That's reverence. That's alignment. That's how you get heaven's attention. You wouldn't enter a human courtroom talking over the judge. Why enter God's presence like that? The sign reads the same: Quiet—Court Is in Session. Waiting on God to speak is not easy, but it's necessary. And when He speaks, it cuts through all confusion. Because the devil doesn't fear noise—he fears obedience. And you can't obey what you never took time to hear. Before you bring your list to the throne today, bring your ear. God is not moved by how loud you are. He's moved by how surrendered you are. This is how the next revival will rise—not from crowds but from consecrated silence. The people who sit long enough to listen will rise with words that carry weight. So hush the performance. Quiet the platform. And listen. He's still speaking.
