Listen intently
from Daily Picture · host Stephanie Hawkins
I feel that this is a sequel of yesterday's message encouraging us to trust and obey. I had completely forgotten that I had been enamoured by the etymology of "obey" from the Latin, meaning to lean towards and listen intently. What a case in point that we can so easily forget a Truth if we don't meditate on it. Let's listen to the Word which issues from God. God's Word is God Himself (John 1:1). If someone heard a particular person's voice and asked who it was, the reply would be the name of the person. Similarly we say Jesus, The Word, is God. Human words are propelled by the air in our lungs and the air along which it travels to get to the hearer, the analogy of which describes the Holy Spirit. Can you see the Word, the supreme Source from which it issues and the Power which propels it, as one?
