Listen Local - S2 Ep 27 - Emilee Mae Struss

from Listen Local

The episode that brought out all of the emotions. From the laughing to the crying, this by far was the most emotional Listen Local episode yet. We caught up with our friend Emilee Mae Struss to discuss some very important topics. You may know Emilee as the Editor of the Lake Country Journal, and while we do touch on that - and the story she wrote about the podcast - the main reason we wanted her back on the show was to dive into dealing with loss and mental health overall during the holiday season. To say Emilee had an eventful summer would be the understatement of the century. After losing her brother TJ to suicide, and taking over his side of the company Outfit My Life, she knew her life's mission - at least for the forseable future - was to help raise awareness for mens mental health. To go along with all of this, Emilee talks about how the book she was about to publish, which is a story based around her life, took an unbelievable turn, and will now touch on so much more. We can't thank Emilee enough for coming on the show and telling her story, and we cannot wait for this book to be released in 2022! Also, while it is hard to follow up possible the most meaningful segment in Listen Local history, we did have our main sponsor Tyler Gardner of Pequot & Gull Lake Sanitation on the show as well. Instead of the usual Trash Talk with him, we had him put his Pequot Lakes Mayor hat on for this one to talk about the incident that happened a the Pequot Lakes High School last week that involved a student and the Principle. Tyler tell us all about the discussions that went down between the city and the schoolboard during that day they cancelled shool. Once again, thank you so much to Emilee and Tyler for being on the show! Instagram:ListenLocalMNBlazeAirMNWoodsToWaterMNNorthwoodsAgent Facebook:Listen Local MNBlazeAirMNWoodsToWaterMN

Chinook Realm Religion and crime collide when a gruesome murder rocks the isolated community of Chinook, Montana. Local Deputy Ruth Vogel thought she was answering a routine animal control call, only to find a mangled corpse on the frozen embankment. Her small town is whipped into a frenzy and everyone is quick to point their fingers at a drug-addicted teenager, but Ruth suspects connections to a powerful religious group. Enter Agent Loro, an enigmatic FBI investigator tracking an evangelical cult that may have roots right here in Chinook. Loro and Ruth form a cautious partnership to find the killer—but as the mystery winds through Ruth’s life, her family, and her church, she’ll discover something more sinister than murder is afoot.Binge all episodes of Chinook exclusively and ad-free by joining Wondery+ in the Wondery App, Apple Podcasts or Spotify. Guests will include both former and current believers in a variety of conspiracy theories, as well as debunkers, skeptics, and the investigators of those theories. I’m Mick West, a debunker. I wrote the book Escaping the Rabbit Hole – How to Debunk Conspiracy Theories using Facts, Logic, and Respect. This book came from my experiences running Metabunk – a debunking forum. Over the years I realized simply presenting corrections to people is not enough. We need effective communication, and we can’t do that if we don’t listen to and talk with each other. I’m hoping this podcast will help bridge that gap. Explicit Cast-A-Role: A Movie Podcast Cast-a-role A movie podcast that has absolutely nothing to do with cooking. Three friends take some of cinema’s much loved (or unloved) films and, for better or worse, stir in a different cast (it’s usually worse). A must listen for film and comedy fans alike.Cast-A-Role is filled with delicious humour, bad language, dubious opinions, and delectable movie trivia. Explicit
