"Listen With Care" // Luke 18, John 5, Acts 17 (Sunday 7/21/24)

"BEING HEARD is so close to being loved that for the average person, they are almost indistinguishable.” (David W. Augsburger) Can you relate to this? Listening to people – really hearing and understanding what they are saying – is a critical expression of love. So how do we make sure we aren’t mishearing? As we continue in our series of outreach and care to the community around us - finding ways to B.L.E.S.S. our neighbors, family, and friends - (L)istening is our next step after (B)eginning with prayer. Did you know that Jesus asked 307 questions and answered only 3? The rest of the time He listened... It was His listening that propelled His mission of grace, and we get to experience His invitations in our lives as we listen to His voice and those around us. Jesus heard and responded to the most unlikely people, and everyday, each of us comes into contact with people who nobody cares about and nobody listens to. May we be people that have the heart of Jesus through whom God will change lives and change the world - people who are always praying, “Jesus, help me to listen today.” Sunday // 9 & 10:30am // Arcata Veterans Hall
