"Listening Across the Chasm of Privilege" by Jen S.

For the message, Jen S. read Luke 25-35 and told a story about people who lived in a divided city. Those on the west side of the dividing chasm needed resources from the east. However, the divide prevented good communication between the sides and those who lived on the east kept acting on their misperception of expressed need. Finally, the need for authentic communication drove a group of young people to climb down and cross the barrier. The work of listening, naming and pursuing justice brought safety for all. How can we speak more plainly about privilege and racism? How is the Inward Teaching leading you to change patterns that perpetuate injustice?
