Good News: Live Again 1. God doesn’t always come when you want him to but He’s always right on time John 11:3 So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord, the one you love is sick. (NIV) John 11:5–6 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days, (NIV) Job 30:20 “I cry out to you, God, but you do not answer; I stand up, but you merely look at me. (NIV) Psalm 22:1–2 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish? 2 My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest. Psalm 28:1 To you, Lord, I call; you are my Rock, do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who go down to the pit. (NIV) 3 Reasons God is Silent 1. He has already spoken, but you aren’t listening 2. You haven’t responded to the last thing God said 3. You’re not ready to hear God’s answer John 16:12 “There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now. (NLT) Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (NIV) 2. You will rise again John 11:23-26 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (NIV) 3. Jesus deeply cares for you John 11:33-35 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. 34 “Where have you laid him?” he asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they replied. 35 Jesus wept. (NIV) 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (NIV) 4. Jesus brings dead things back to life again John 11:39-41 “Take away the stone,” he said. “But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.”40 Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” 41 So they took away the stone. (NIV)
