It's that time of year where the nights are getting longer than the days. One of the longest nights in the history of the world is the night before Jesus died. The night he was betrayed. The night that takes up nearly a third of John's Gospel. That dark night set events in motion that would change the world. The King of Life was prepared to drink the cup of death. The Conspirators swarmed. The cowards tried to save themselves. Only the Christ stood tall that night. Which is how any of us can stand at all.
