Live to Love Scripture Encouragement John 11.17

from Live to Love Scripture Encouragement · host Norm Wakefield

John 11:17 So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days. Jesus waited two days before beginning the trip to Bethany (vs. 6), and apparently it took two days to travel to Bethany. For Lazarus to be in the tomb 4 days means that he died the day Jesus heard that he was sick. Mary and Martha must have sent word two days before he died because we assume it also took them two days of travel. That’s six days of waiting for Mary and Martha to hear from Jesus. How long have we waited to hear from Jesus when we’ve been desperate for His presence and comfort in our storm? The six days of waiting for Mary and Martha and the four days in the tomb were necessary for the glory of God to be seen. Let’s remember that is always the case with our storms. He loves us. He purposes to glorify His name in our situation. Whatever delay we are experiencing is necessary for His glory to be revealed. Trust and pray as we wait.
