Live to Love Scripture Encouragement John 11.37

from Live to Love Scripture Encouragement · host Norm Wakefield

John 11:37 But some of them said, "Could not this man, who opened the eyes of the blind man, have kept this man also from dying?" Hm. Maybe Martha and Mary got the notion that if Jesus had been there, Lazarus would not have died from the Jews who came to mourn with them. However, that doesn’t seem very consoling, does it? The tone of this seems accusative. John shows us again the division that existed among the crowd with regard to Jesus. Some think the best of Him—He loves well. Others think the worst of Him—He could have prevented this. We will find this to be the case in life. Regardless of what you do and how you authentically express Jesus’ love, there will be some who can see it and others who can’t. Maybe this is what troubled Jesus so deeply to the point of tears. Which is more troubling? That a man dies or that a man is walking death? What do you think?
