He corrects Job’s three friends, but then he rebuilds the same assumption with better vocabulary: Job must be guilty, and God must be responding to that guilt. We slow the whole thing down and ask the one question that makes shallow takes fall apart: what sin did Job commit before the affliction that would justify any of these speeches?From there we dig into the difference between condemnation and correction, and why that distinction can still miss the point if the “evidence” is just a need to defend God’s justice.
