LIVE: Winning in the World of Sports Journalism

By all accounts, sports have long been a pretty big deal in American life and culture and, for media practitioners of color, covering sports can be a rewarding career path, not least because of the important place that people of color occupy in American sports. This episode of The Sidebar features five successful sports journalists of color who possess rather diverse skill sets and wear different hats as they navigate various media platforms while covering the world of sports, such as print, podcast, broadcast, sideline reporting and more. In sharing their experiences, they address such matters as what helped them get their start in their profession, how to build valuable relationships in the industry, how to pitch winning stories to the bosses, how to develop one's skills in the profession, how to apply for internship opportunities and so much more. The conversation was from our Sports Journalism Panel on November 29, 2022.
