Maya Ellison, is the Sports Director for WANM 90.5 FM in Tallahassee, Florida, Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in broadcasting sports news or sports events over radio and social networks through 90.5. Assigns staff personnel to operate and direct broadcasting activities and tasks. Assist in planning periods pertaining to sports content within the Tallahassee area. A jack of all trades is how Ellison would describe her work ethic. Ellison, has been blessed with many internships from behind-the-scenes to on-air, know that in order to be a great journalist, I have to understand all aspects of the industry. I have 3+years of experience in the Journalism industry, whether that is news or sports. In 2020, Maya was a finalist in the Society of Professional Journalist Region 3 Mark of Excellence Awards Online Sports Reporter finalist. In 2021, Ellison became an Emma Bowen Fellow then in 2022, I became a ColorComm HBCU NextGen fellow.
